What is the Jack of all trades Universe?
JoatU is the easiest way to find community. Free events, lots of opportunities to help others, and a marketplace for goods and services that encourages bartering.
What is an individual offer?
JoatU encourages it’s members to list their talents and goods to sell, trade, rent, lend or give away. For example, I’ll grow you a tomato plant, tutor you, lend you a power-tool for an equitable exchange. This one-on-one exchange is also known as an individual offer. There is second type of exchange named a community offer.
What is a community offer?
A community offer is an offer made by a user or a request made by a community organization. For example, one might offer to plant a community vegetable garden or teach a publicly accessible class. These offers made for the benefit of the community are 100% free to attend and/or benefit from. The person making the offer is paid in Community Action Points which are generated by the community and the JoatU website collaboratively.
What is a Community Action Point?
Community Action Points or ‘Caps’ are credit points that are given out when a user completes a community offer (e.g. Painting a community organization). Caps exist to promote benevolent acts within your community. Users with credits can trade them to other members of the JoatU community in exchange for services or products.
How are Caps created?
The Jack of all trades Universe is a credit-based system. There is no debt, only credit.
CAPS are created in two separate ways:
– A community organization needs a room painted and a user decides to respond to the request. The user paints the room and when the organization confirms that the request has been fulfilled, a predetermined amount of caps will be placed into the user’s account.
– A user may fill out a community offer form. The user details the offering which is then verified by moderators. After the completion of the offer verified by the moderators (or a trusted user), the predetermined amount of JoatU Units will be placed into the user’s account.
How are the amount of CAPS determined?
In the Alpha version of JoatU, 20 CAPS are generated per hour of service to the community. In the near future, we will be surveying the community allowing everyone to express their views on the needs of their community and to help determine the different hourly rates in Community Action Points given to volunteer workers. An average of the results will determine the different categorical values. Categories may include broad subjects such as ‘education’, ‘health’, or ‘environment’ where users are given a certain amount of points to distribute among the different categories.
Are there other ways to earn caps?
Yes. If someone has already earned caps, you can choose to accept them as a part of a bartered transaction.
Will the creation of more Caps lead to inflation?
Not likely, no. Here is a full explanation why increased monetary creation does not lead to inflation.
Are Caps anything Like Bitcoin?
Caps hold no resemblance to Bitcoin. The Cap is not cryptographic coin. It is a simple in-game currency that Joatu itself generates. Caps resemble the gold generated in World of Warcraft more than Bitcoin.
Why do we need Caps?
In JoatU, we want to encourage people to involve themselves in their local communities. We believe this is a good way to do it. JoatU is an online marketplace that benefits your community the more you use it. The caps are tradable and are used both to facilitate online transactions and to fund community-oriented projects — community gardening, free education, initiatives for a cleaner and safer community – the sky’s the limit.
Why should I want to be a part of JoatU?
The transactions you perform on JoatU could be the same ones that you’d be making already. In your everyday life, you would lend a friend a book, or help a family member paint their porch, or hire a singing teacher to give you lessons. JoatU helps bring the entire community together to perform these exchanges more easily, all while creating resources for community projects. The more involved in JoatU you become, the more of a resource you become to your neighborhood, and the more you should feel great about your contribution to the community!
Why should I use caps in my exchanges?
Look at caps like your Air Miles. They aren’t good for everything, but you earn points and get rewarded with certain goods and services in return. With JoatU, these points go towards the betterment of your community (instead of towards buying a toaster). JoatU puts the focus on community-building and creating a sustainable economy that is fair and governed directly by the people who use it.
Do I need to use caps in my exchanges?
It is not mandatory to use caps in your exchanges. However, when using caps, the whole community benefits. A given transaction can be bartered through a combination of caps, goods, services, and old-fashioned money.
Are there other benefits to using caps besides helping the community?
Absolutely! The way the system will be grown to encourage fairer pricing when compared to other means of exchange. You also help improve your own community, and get to participate in free community projects of your choosing. As the community grows, so will the benefits for using caps.
Will businesses accept caps as a currency?
As JoatU develops, local business integration will be critical (and we are already working on ideas on how to get them involved), but in the initial phases there will not be any immediate business integration.
Why would businesses accept JoatU?
Local businesses depend on the support of their neighborhood. This is a way to integrate themselves, prove their value, and gain marketshare all at the same time. Their agreement to accept the social credit in exchange for their goods and services supports others’ community efforts to clean up parks, volunteer at non-profits, plant gardens, offer free classes, etc. This is also a highly effective way for businesses to market themselves as their audience will be incredibly local.
How do you prevent fraud?
We prevent fraud by building an open-source infrastructure made and protected by the open-source community. Security features will be integral to JoatU.
If a user does not fulfill their end of the exchange, they will receive a negative review and could be refused JoatU Units. Depending on the severity of the case, further action may be taken against them. The rules of the community will ultimately be determined by the community and may be different in different parts of the world. JoatU will also use an escrow system, protecting the purchaser and allowing him or her the time to confirm that the service had been provided before payment.
How does one-on-one trading work?
One-on-one trading is simple. Simply, you perform a search for the service or product you are seeking out. Find the person you may like to exchange with and send them a message. After a few messages, you can propose a contract (built into the messaging system) and then negotiate. Once confirmed, the time and date are set and the JoatU Units are held in escrow. After the trading has occurred, the buyer must confirm and leave a review to allow the JoatU Units to flow into the other person’s account.
How is this different than other bartering systems?
Here are some notable differences as compared to other bartering/alt-currency systems: There are no basic membership fees. There is no initial amount of caps given to users. The users using JoatU can use it like they might use craigslist, by selling things for money. The site is meant to open up trade and barter for everything and anything. People have the choice as to whether or not to use the caps in their transactions. Community offers are designed more openly and can be proposed to the community by individuals. The community decides on the value of community offers through a direct democratic process. You can lend things for caps. The community functions based on distance, so it pushes for hyper-localization. It also uses GPS mapping for search results to allow you to really get to know what your neighbors can offer.
Will you be able to trade with Bitcoin, Dogecoin or other alt-currencies?
Of course! You can trade in stamps or bottle caps if someone is willing to accept them! JoatU is a free market exchange.
How do we keep our members safe?
Just like with, the references are an integral part of the trust we hope to create within our community. JoatU will have moderators (paid for their contributions in caps) who will respond to reports of abuse.
How do references work?
Positive references will accumulate as experience points (XP) for users, allowing them to gain higher levels to demonstrating their dedication to the JoatUniverse.
Will the site remain free?
Yes. JoatU relies heavily on the community, and will not charge fees for basic membership. We may integrate premium memberships that will have a cost associated with them.
Direct Democracy In representative democracy we elect people to make decisions on our behalf. In direct democracy, we take those decisions upon ourselves. I.E. The community decides what is best for their sustainability and growth.
Here some initiatives of Joatu:
i want to invite you to do a kind of checkup. The results of this checkup will tell you where you stand right now. It may be a good idea to keep the results and look at them occasionally just to see how your are changing (or not).

Human development (short version)
There are three stages of development available to human beings : child, adult and parent/teacher. We are born as children; in a natural society we will grow into independent, free and responsible adults and then later we will be able to help the next generations in their individual development as a parent/teacher.
In our technocratic societies today we remain children, dependent on parents, government, healthcare, drugs, food, sex, work… We rarely see an adult, free from dependency of any kind; rarer still a parent able to convey to their children and young adults how to become or stay free from dependencies.
Even the most powerful today are merely children in an adult body wearing the cloths of parents. From the film “Ungrip” by Ben:Stewart

- Nobody owns any property.
- Everyone is above the law.
- Money is not a store of wealth, it is a store of someone’s debt.
- When a police officer stops you for speeding, it’s because you told him to.
- Every man being held in jail is there because of what he believes, his conviction – he overturns his conviction with the proper authority and he can get out.
- Your birth certificate does not certify the birth of a living individual.
- A license is permission to do something illegal.
- Any job requires you to transact public business dishonestly for private gain.
- Sovereign Nations with democratic constitutions are the best form of government.
- Our ancestors were unintelligent and primitive cavemen until humanity developed the first civilizations (Rome, Greece, Sumer, Egypt).
The different colors of Autonomy?
Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia built collaboratively using wiki software. It is the platform of the people; many people collaborate to create a “new contemporary encyclopedia” that can keep up with the quick pace of our times. Wikipedia is made by the people for the people.
Wikipedia defines autonomy to mean « one who gives himself his own law ». Autonomy describes the capacity of a rational individual to make an informed, un-coerced decision. In moral and political philosophy, autonomy is often used as the basis for determining moral responsibility for one’s actions. Autonomy is also used to refer to the self-government of the people.
Blacks Law Dictionary defines autonomy as the political independence of a nation; the right (and condition) of self-government. All modern states are built on the right of self-government of the people.
The Arab Spring, Occupy Wall street and other movements seem to show that the self-government of the people does not work all right. Is it because the wrong people are occupying the seats of power, is it that power structures are counterproductive to democratic processes or is ‘self-government’ a wrong alley?
Why we are all agnostics
After we were born and could for the first time open our eyes and other senses and consciously take in what we perceive… we saw that everything was already there including our selves. That means we did not create anything of anything! As nothing is our creation, we cannot claim ownership of anything – not even our selves for that matter.
In the face of this situation we can adopt either of two intelligent positions and one unintelligent one:. First the intelligent positions:
- Deism is is the belief that reason and observation of the natural world are sufficient to determine the existence of a Creator, accompanied with the rejection of revelation and authority as a source of religious knowledge.
= God is the Creator and only He can own anything.
- Agnosticism is the belief that the truth values of certain claims—especially claims about the existence or non-existence of any deity, as well as other religious and metaphysical claims—are unknown.
= We don’t know who is the Creator and consequently we don’t know Who owns everything.
Both of these positions put us in the middle of a formidable Creation that is awe-inspiring to us; they make us humble, non-aggressive, collaborative beings who would like to take a creative part in this ongoing Creation. None of us can claim ownership of anything; yet we can can claim equal dominion over the Creation in order to have the material basis to deploy our gifts in this Great Co-Creation.
This position gives us individually the perfect freedom, practical ownership and true happiness.
And then the unintelligent position:
3. The law of the jungle is an expression that means « every man for himself, » « anything goes, » « might makes right, » « survival of the strongest, » « survival of the fittest, » « kill or be killed, » « dog eat dog » and « eat or be eaten, » « kill only to eat, not from anger or sport »
= We don’t care who is the creator; so we claim possession of what we want.
This position limits all our freedom, ownership and happiness to the extend that someone stronger than me makes his claim.
So if we want to consider ourselves as evolved, conscious and intelligent beings, the second position is not available to us. The first two positions lead to the same attitude towards our selves, the others and the world around us. The adoption of either one of the first two will make us soon aware that they are essentially the same: if we honestly answer every deep question about our beginnings with “I don’t know” or if we answer it with “This is God’s Will” comes to the same because: “Who or What is God?”. Honestly we can never say Who God is, He defies all our definitions, concepts, rationals, understandings. That’s why we cannot prove him, but we may be able to realize Him or to experience Him and most certainly “live Him”!
So at the bottom of agnosticism there lies a mysterious feeling. At the bottom of Deism there is a certain agnosticism, because we are not born to understand but to live our lives.
Justice versus Justness
This is from the youtube of Kimberley Motley who is a self-employed attorney in Afganisthan: Kimberley Motley: How I defend the rule of law
The laws are made to protect us. However in the day to day reality, the laws that have been made to protect people are underused while the punitive laws are overused. This results in a quest for Justness. Justness is the use of laws the way they have been intended = to protect.
This may be difficult because of many factors: the common practice to overuse punitive and underuse protective law; the common lack of education in respect to our laws; the common practice that organizations (government) make it difficult to access these laws for people; in the law profession there are very view who are ready to defend and fight for the use of protective law (justness) within a zynical legal system (Goering named this “Amtsprache » = langue officielle de la bureaucracy).
A just system needs to promote education about how to technically, spiritually function to our individual benefit within the community in which we live. We need as well good knowledge about language, so we can communicate what we want. In short: we need education about language and civics – to know our rights as human beings and to be able to express and pursue them.
Please refer to the questions at the beginning of this lesson « When i was young », look at your answers and reflect of what has changed after what you have learned during the lesson. Email your observations to your teacher.
This course is about a rather peculiar fact. We live in a times where new discoveries and knowledge comes to us as a much faster rate than our technology to integrate it, to understand it can cope with. For example the Nasa has so much diversified knowledge bits in all its departments that it even their biggest computer cannot catalogue or synthetize it.
A similar thing is happening with the internet, especially with all open source projects, and social media – nobody can « get everything » that is happening on the internet – yet each of us can most probably find what she/he is looking for – the internet has made us virtually « all knowing or omniscient ».
But – halas! – most of the knowledge that is available to us via internet and other media is there to distract us from the real crucial questions of our times. This of course is done by design – the how and why you can learn listening to Noam Chomsky’s youtube « Manufacturing Consent ».
So the media are designed to keep us busy interested in hockey games, scandalous celebrities and bad presidents – so busy that we do not take the time to
… but if we do then we might learn that
We know the least about what affects you most.
The next approach comes from a dialogue from the book « The name of the Rose« :
William of Baskerville:
« But what is so alarming about laughter? »
Jorge de Burgos:
« Laughter kills fear, and without fear there can be no faith because without fear of the Devil, there is no more need of God. »
William of Baskerville:
« But you will not eliminate laughter by eliminating that book. »
Jorge de Burgos:
« No, to be sure, laughter will remain the common man’s recreation. But what will happen if, because of this book, learned men were to pronounce it admissible to laugh at everything? Can we laugh at God? The world would relapse into chaos! Therefore, I seal that which was not to be said. »
At the heart of our course is FEAR and it’s polar opposite LAUGHTER.
- Do you legally own your property?
- Do you know what a birthright is? Do you know your birthrights?
- Do you know the difference between « legal-illegal » versus « right and wrong »?
- What would you prefer and why: To be a « servant king » or a « king’s servant »
Please answer the questions and email them to your teacher.
How to do this course
As you have seen the whole course is divided up into small bites that i hope are easier to digest than thick volumes… Be mindful to take small bites and eat and digest each of them before you eat another one… What about « Digesting »? In this context it means, think it over for yourself… feel if it is relevant to you…
If it is relevant – what would be the best way to integrate it into your day to day life?
If you feel it is not relevant – just leave it.
Look into the past
This course is not about accumulating knowledge but about cultivating the wisdom to sort our knowledge and to put everyting in « our context »; so we can more and more rely mainly on our own authority instead of automatically taking for granted what others say, or the TV or Facebook, the internet…
Our minds have become lazy by abandoning responsibility for our own thinking and feeling. A good technique to develop our own judgment and overcome the laziness of our minds, is called “Look into the Past”. This technique is easily applicable to everything in our society, history or reality.
We will take the example of “Medicine” and we will look into it’s history. It is helpful to be as precise as possible and be attentive to details.
Here is how you can do it: read the questions and do not read the answers right away – read the question and find YOUR answer before you read the answer given – then go to the next question and do the same. This “socratic dialogue” is taken from Anastasia, book 8, p.56ff):
“What does “Medicine” represent today?”
“Hospitals, Pharmacies, Doctors and Nurses and thousands of illnesses”
“How was it 60 years ago?”
“There were fewer of all of them.”
“How many of them were there 100 or 200 years ago; let’s say in 1875?”
“Even fewer, we all know that modern medical science is only more or less 200 years old.”
“You see, you concluded yourself already that 200 years ago there were no hospitals; then who treated people back then?”
“Well some of the people in the villages, who know about herbal medicines, could help to cure; many people at that time knew about the healing qualities of herbs and could identify them.”
“What does someone do today if he has a scratch or a cut?”
“He spends time going to a pharmacy and spends money to buy disinfectant and a band aid, because he has forgotten that to put a plantain leaf would do the job right away.”
“Would that mean that the knowledge of the past was superior to that of today?”
“It would seem that way?”
“Now there is a doubt in your mind. It says something like: ‘How can knowledge be superior in the past when back then they did not have all that technology and science as we have today?’. It is important to confront that doubt: is this doubt coming from your incomplete or wrong reasoning or from something else?”
“Hm, I think my reasoning was correct; I feel the doubt comes from a conditioning that I have: that all that is new and modern is necessarily better than things that have been replaced by it.”
“OK, lets now look at the number of diseases; why are there more diseases today than a few hundred years ago?”
“Our medical sciences discover more and more diseases; and at the same time they heal less and less diseases; there are even diseases like the various flues that mutate in reaction to the efforts of modern medicine.”
“So what’s the conclusion?”
“Well modern medicine is less efficient than folk medicine was. That means we really should turn back to this storehouse of knowledge, to recover it, to restore it and to teach it – even in schools… oh my god… but that would lead to the collapse of almost all businesses involved in modern medicine.”
“What does that mean in regards to medicine?”
“It means that modern medicine is a self sustaining business for profit and much much less a healing profession based on the oath of Hippocrates1. Hospitals and pharmaceutical industries are thriving when we are ill and they would go out of business if we cured ourselves… But there are, however, some facts still in support of medicine as a science.”
“Well in medieval times there were epidemics that are completely eradicated from the face of the earth, like plague and small-pocks.”
“When exactly did these epidemics brake out? In what cultural or religious era or context?”
“Oh my god, yes, that was around the same time as the folk healers, especially women were persecuted by the holy inquisition as witches and burned on the stake”
When you have resolved an analysis, when you have proven a fact for yourself beyond doubt – then other conclusions will show up on their own – something like this:
“If the people of the past had the right knowledge to heal all, how did they acquire it?”
“Well there were no schools and most people could not read or write, so they had to be a oral tradition and they had to learn everything by trial and error… the latter seems improbable though, because the time involved in finding out about each plant what they are good and bad for? I don’t know.”
“How about animals?”
“Oh animals do not go to anyone for help, they all cure themselves. If they feel bad they go in the forest and find the plant for their ailment; then they eat it and that’s it”
“Who taught them?”
“Nobody, they simply know… what does that say about Man, the crown of creation, the image of God?… yes, He has endowed all beings with all knowledge they need right from the start of their creation!… but is it all lost?”
“All is preserved in every single Man. The access to this knowledge is extremely simple and at the same time not so simple. Man should be able to figure it out with his mind…”
Later in the book you will be able to figure it out yourself… patience my friend, patience…
The Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panacea and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfill according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:
To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art — if they desire to learn it — without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but to no one else.
I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.
I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody if asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.
I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.
Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.
What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself holding such things shameful to be spoken about.
If I fulfill this path and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.
When i read this oath, i was flabbergasted – and still am: i don’t know of any practicioner who’s work would reflect this. As far as i know this oath is not taken anymore – and if it would, nobody of the medical profession would or could live up to it.
Ps: In a 1989 survey of 126 US medical schools, only three reported use of the original oath, while thirty-three used the Declaration of Geneva, sixty-seven used a modified Hippocratic Oath, four used the Oath of Maimonides, one used a covenant, eight used another oath, one used an unknown oath, and two did not use any kind of oath. Seven medical schools did not reply to the survey.(wikipedia)

Common Law is based on the natural law or god’s law. So if a country (like Quebec) claims that it is not ruled by common law – how can they abandon god’s law?
Today there is the Common Law and there are rules, regulations, statutes; common law is interested in justness, while statutes are interested in money.
Statutes are meant to control government members – elected officials and employees (functionaries).
A common law crime needs an injured party – a state or a corporation cannot be injured because they are not a person in the sense of a living being – they are property. Therefore corporations cannot sue individuals.
For every injury there needs to be a remedy; a remedy fixes the problem, allows the perpetrator to come back into the community.
A court of record is a common law court.
